A PRESIDENTIAL MOMENT... Bob Maher, President

Welcome to the home page of ACP International-DFW. Thanks for taking the time to visit us and learn more about our organization!

We are the local chapter of professional, career (transition)-oriented consultants and executive coaches in the DFW area. Our Members represent consulting practices and firms, Corporate, and academic Career Centers. We come together regularly at Brookhaven Country Club , Sept-June, to meet, share and network around significant topics in the career related arena.

It was good to hear from a former President of our Chapter, Darlene Davis, in her February presentation regarding TALENT MANAGEMENT as a trend in our customers' world.  You missed a thought provoking, interactive session if you didn't attend.

This may well become a year of transition for our industry, our Association, and right here in our local Chapter.  My vision is for us to continue in our reputation of leadership, thinking outside the box, and adapting to changes as they occur. Our regular meeting schedule will probably be changing to incorporate SPECIAL INTEREST NETWORKS, reflecting our evolving Membership needs.

Shoot me an email at careerpilot@sbcglobal.net and I’ll see that you get notified of all the pertinent details on any and all of our Chapter EVENTS.

Finally, check our International’s website: www.acpinternational.org for details on this year’s events, offerings and services.  As a Founding Council's Member, I've attended Annual International Conferences around the globe since 1989... and made some great friends from around the globe. This is your chance to, a little closer to home this year, to become part of "The World’s Voice on Career Issues !"

Looking forward to a great year!

Bob

FROM OUR MEMBERSHIP CHAIR...

Welcome!  Career management professional work with individuals or with groups of students, employees,  executives to assist in career management, career choice, advancement or transition.  ACP International’s local chapter serves the needs of career outplacement and career management professionals throughout the DFW metroplex. In addition to enjoying an affiliation with a distinguished international organization, ACP International-DFW provides its members with the following professional benefits:

  • regular monthly dinner meetings with informative and entertaining speakers

  • annual international conference, as well as other seminars and mini-conferences

  • national quarterly newsletter

  • professional certification process

  • numerous networking opportunities

  • discounted web page hosting

  • visibility through leadership opportunities

  • standards of ethical practice

The DFW chapter meets regularly, the last Thursday of the month, from January through June and September through December at the Brookhaven Country Club. Please see this site for driving instructions and information about the current meeting topic.

From a former President of our Chapter: So many of you have asked the question of "why membership"? Here are some thoughts:

  • Since the members of this organization are both warm and caring, you often find friendship that extends beyond the working relations.
  • Of course, there are also the business relationships that can develop. Some members have joined primarily for the business aspects. You will be better served if you thought about the contributions you can make to the organization.
  • In other words "it’s not what ACP International can do for you, it is what you can do for ACP International!"

Maintaining a professional and up-to-date website is a must in today’s web-centric world of business. We know that the “professional” part may be a stretch for those without a team of web developers and graphic designers. (For that, let Insala come to your aid.) But the “up-to-date” part is something that may be easier than you think.

There are a myriad of tools available to you that can make the seemingly daunting task of website updates very much in reach. For ease of use, familiar interface, and cost, we often recommend Microsoft Office FrontPage. What follows is a very brief primer on making basic updates to your website using FrontPage.
