The Dallas Area Voice on Career Issues

Sponsored by the Dallas/ Ft.Worth Chapter of the Association of Career Professionals International (ACP International), our mission is to bring together a multi-constituency Forum of career oriented practitioners, organizations, and the community we serve.

Meeting of the Forum: Friday, June 11, 11:30 AM - 1 PM

@ Richland College

AGENDA:

SHOWCASE: Richland College..... Delores Elder-Jones

Attendees were treated to a terrific "insider's look" at Richland College.  We were introduced to several of their key players:  two Vice Presidents of the College, their public career center manager (who led us through a informative visit), and a Public Information Specialist.  Delores represents the Continuing Education Department.  We discussed the possibilities of creating a Career Management Professional Track, possibly even sharing resources with other academic institutions.

Report on Annual Event, held April 23rd ....... Bob Maher

Our Annual Event proved that the reciprocal attendance initiatives can work for all concerned.  We need to really work on and build toward our next annual event through networking and recruitment.  The Event was profitable.  Kudos to the Event Committee: Al Owens (and his tireless work with the PR and affiliation initiatives), Geri England and Parvin Gulam.  Event feedback was quite consistently excellent, helping to pave the way to our next Event.  Stay tuned for further development.

Affiliate organization update...

Welcome APT, The Association for Psychological Type.  Members of each Association were in attendance at the others' most recent meeting!!!

A new face for the website.........

This website will be a work in progress as it develops... we need your feedback on appearance, functionality and content matters.

Please keep our collective goal in mind:  To provide a single, clear voice in addressing the complexities of career choice, career management and career change.  Our process is powerful in its simplicity: To listen before we speak, openly sharing best practices, and providing resource to those we serve.

SHOWCASE Presentations will feature one of our constituent organizations at each meeting.  In this manner, we can all benefit from increased awareness of available resources within our Community.  In June, our host organization, Richland College will be featured in our Showcase.

Topic-of-the-Day  will be a facilitated discussion of a specific career related topic at each of our meetings.

We still need your suggestions for a Fall topic, and a volunteer to facilitate!

Reciprocal Membership Benefits

One of our goals is to provide attendance/Membership Support between practitioner professional organizations and service organizations within the community, providing a forum to share best practices, resources for career motivated individuals, and enhanced professional development opportunities.
